The subject of poor performance of leisure batteries has come up a number of times and rather than post individual comments I thought I would post a discussion concerning the research that the Club did together with other organisations. This was published
in the Club magazine which can be accessed as follows:

Login then go to - News and Events, Magazine, Club Magazine Archive.  Do a search on "Technical" and you will find Ken Wickersham's article in the 1st Nov 2013 issue. Maybe somebody can post a link?

Quote form this article ..."Products from Varta and Banner performed well .....".

Just a reminder that most failures result from discharging your battery off of EHU then expecting the caravan charger to restore it.  Caravan chargers work at around 13.8 volts so unless you have a smart charger system in your van your battery will not recover.
It needs 14.4 volts on a proper charger, off the van. Ignore this if you have a Coachman, Swift etc. with a Sargent or similar smart dual system which charges the battery off-line (your manual should tell you).

Hope this helps.
