Caravan cover with Solar Panel

Just retrieved our van from the farm where it is stored and the algae etc. is the worst I have ever known. We will probably swap our van out at the end of the year and the model we are considering has a fixed solar panel - ideal for keeping
the battery topped up in storage. You would think, so but if I buy a caravan cover am I back to square one?
