BMW X3 (F25) as towcar

The auto box failed on our 2003 X5 and the new X3 is the nearest model to the old spec. X5. Thinking of changing soon as 9 year old car is getting on a bit (although only 70,000 miles). Does anybody have experience of the new X3 (F25)?
