Motorhome winter storage

We are lifelong caravanners but yet again our thoughts have turned to Motorhomes and no doubt we will be lead astray at the forthcoming NEC. We would not use a Motorhome in the winter and my concern is what we would need to do to keep it from deteriorating.
Presumably we cannot just put it in the farmer's field for six months and forget about which is what we do with the van?
