Porch awnings and windows

Hi

We're buying our 1st porch awning, just for storing muddy shoes and the kids buggies, larger toys etc outside the van. Is it important to get one that avoids the windows? Read the reviews about getting the best you can afford etc and the 1 we like would
be over the bathroom window so that doesn't matter but in terms of fitting we weren't sure if this was a good idea. Please help!
