Domestic Fridge knob broken

Every year something happens when we are furthest from home. We are travelling and the selector knob on our new Dometic fridge for gas/electric etc. has split and we are stuck on gas! Better than being off I suppose. Could repair with superglue but it might
fail again on the wrong position. Can't get at the shank with pliers without taking the plastic cover off which seems to have two screws but would need to remove temperature knob -do they just pull off? What about the igniter button; does that need to come
off?
