Alko wheel lock dust plug

Nosing around at our storage site I noticed an Alko wheel lock which had a strange rubber plug device sticking out of the central key barrel. I then realised what the rather odd looking rubber pointy thing was that I found in the Alko box that holds the
locking key etc. Clearly it is a dust and dirt protector and it has a shaped end to fit snuggly on to the key barrel and I hadn't realised. Felt a bit dumb really but nobody explained what it was when I took delivery of the van over two years ago! Not sure
how long it will stay in place though, even with the van stationary.
