Alderney for our 45th Wedding Anniversary
The 26th April was the 45th Anniversary of our Wedding in St Michaels Church Yeovil.
It being a bit special I decided to take my DCOS to the Island of Alderney in the channel Islands. I have to say that Alderney is beautiful and the people very friendly indeed. The views were stunning and our Hotel the Bray Beach hotel was excellant. We even bumped into two lots of CTers who had left their vans at Morn Hill site Winchester whilst they visited the Island.
So what was my strongest impression of our visit?
It was my wifes terrified shriek when she saw the little plane we were to travel over in!
Now I will happily fly in anything that will clamber off the ground. Fast or slow, big & small, they are all a wonderful experience to be savoured. So I just didn't think to warn her. I know she hates flying, and likes 4 powerful jets to keep fer safe. So I thought she would like the three sturdy propellers on this little Brittan Norman Trislander. It is a 15 seater (Inc the pilot) You sit in 7 rows of two seats abreast, - no Isle, and no crew other than the pilot- proper flying if a bit noisy!
The DCOS let out another shreik when the engine over her head burst into life and closed her eyes tight, not opening them again until we toughed down 45 miutes later. My arm was dead and badly scarred from where she had been holding on so tight!
But it was still a great weekend this 26th April!
Bray Beach Hotel Strongly recommended! As are Aurigny airways!
