The Question posed is "Is caravanning looking at extinction?"  And on reading the very well put to together letter I am fearful that unless some action is taken it might be!

The problem stems from the change in Driving License regulations which came in during the late 90's.  Drivers who passed their tests after that time now have a full driving license but are severly restricted over the size and gross weight of the vehicle
they are driving or are towing.

For towing they will require a B+E test qualification on their licence before they can tow but it is almost impossible to take and pass the test due to a lack of approved test rig.  You cannot turn up with your own caravan ( The one you will eventually use)
and expect to be allowed to take the test!!!

Indeed if this letter is to be believed and is accurate I suspect it will herald the death of the towed leisure vehicle.

Comments please?  Including those of Staff?  Is this a subject that the club need to sort out??
