Should manufacturers offer optional extras?

Things we don't use in our van: TV, Radio/Stereo, Oven.
Things we rarely use: Microwave.
My point is that I bought the top of the range van for the feaures that I did want - Alde system etc. - but I am paying for lots that I do not need (and adding to the weight). It would be nice if some of these could be optional extras.
