I bought my Coachman in 2007 and at the time had a fairly basic caravan mover fitted to it. It needed manual engagement and at times struggled with the all up weight of my 4 berth Caravan.

So now retired and realising that I was in future unlikely to be able to afford another new caravan I decided to spend some money on refurbishing some items on my  existing van.  One item was the mover!

I plumped for a Powr  full one, which also boased fully automatic engagement.  OK as far as it goes, but no one warned me about the power requirement it made on the battery!

On more than one occasion it has failed to work properly because the battery, which was by no means flat, was not , up to full power. On one occasion it decided to fail just as I had manouvered out of a tight pitch but before I had managed to select the
rollers to disengage.  Luckily some one came to my aid with a fully charged booster to aid disengagement.

My battery is a 3 year old Elecsol 110 amp hour.  It is fine for all other purposes. I think the real problem just might be the Caravan onboard battery charger which is not up to the job compared with a dedicated charger.

Anyone suffered similar?

Before someone moans I do appreciate that this should need to be in the technical section but I wanted fuller exposure both to test if anyone else has the problem  AND to warn prospective buyers to consider their battery state!
