Isle of Wight

The DCOS and I quite fancy having a look at the Isle of Wight, but each time we look get put off by the exhorbitant Ferry charges.

Any advice both on Ferries and nice quiet sites ( Dont like the Kiss me quick noisy ones)

We have always gone to France in the past and are quite used to +-£350 for the ferry.  But that was for long crossings. dont like the idea of the same sort of money for what seems to be a couple of hundred yards!
