To polish or not to polish

My caravan, an Elddis Avante is 3 years old but the front panel is fading fast. I tried a number of polishing products that I normally use on my car but with very little success. In the end I used coarse rubbing compount and a lot of elbow grease, but the shine won't last  forever.

Can enyone recommend a product that will help or am I set for a annual battle.
