After all these years of brewing tea and coffee I never thought about this simple way: to put the tea or coffee in the seive and then pour the water slowly though directly into the cup. Amazing. Perfect. No mess. No fuss, and also it is great for light travelling.

My seive is a fine mesh (sometimes need to dribble the water through from a bit of a height to ''push its way through', esp with coffee.) and it has a little metal cup to stand it in to stop dribbles and mess. What a niffty little package. How could I not have thought about doing that. Just shows how much There is for me to learn.

Whilst I am at it, with kitchen tips, does anyone know how to stop the egg white coming away with the shell when you are peeling a hard boiled egg. Sometimes it is stuck so badly that I am left with a yolk and just a few scrappy bits of egg white. Very frustrating and demoralising. Yet other times it all falls off like a dream.
