Caravan servicing...
A subject that has so many faces - the good, bad and downright ugly.
My story starts when I purchased a s/h caravan from s private seller and have to say it was a delight and excellent transaction with all the paperwork, service records, damp testing documents being available and upto date. We were very pleased with the outcome, a genuine seller offering his wellcared for 'van at a good price.
The records showed it had been fully serviced 6 weeks before I purchased it at an all inclusive price of some £580 which included some remedial work to interior fittings.
Upon getting home and un-hitching, disconnecting the 2xplugs the 'white' plug disintegrated (I would love to post a picture if only I knew how!)
Not such a big issue really these things cost very little and in any case I was going convert to the 13 pin plug syatem which would suit my car's connection.
So to the point why did not the 'approved' service center/dealer replace this very low cost item when it was with them for the service.Given the part retails at no more than £3.00 plus 15mins of labour it would have been in my opinion an essential action to have taken rather than leave it to take its course and no doubt fail in the near future.
I am more than capable of sorting such issues like this out but many are not and entrust their pride and joy to the proffesionals and pay the price expecting such items as this will be dealt with and why not?
