Whats gone wrong at Sheepcote Valley Site
We have been fans of Sheepcote Valley Site in Brighton for about 20 years. We visit at least 3 times a year, a long drive from Edinburgh, but normally as we are heading across the drink.
When we visited in 2010 we were shocked at the state the site has got into. We were told that the site had a new ecological policy where the embakments and other large areas were allowed to grow to encourage wildlife. Sounded to us an excuse for a lazy Warden.
We wrote to the club expressing our concerns. We got a reply from the Area Manager which was nothing but a lot of nothing. He explained nothing and was basically saying, "I have to get back to you, got your comments thanks"
We returned last year in August 2012. We were really shocked at the mess of this site. The toilet blocks were a mess with paint peeling from the ceilings, cracked wash hand basins, toilet blocks not cleaned properly. The site itself looks as though it has
been left to just grow wild. That a real shame to have visited a site and really enjoyed it with some very happy memories to see it go down hill in such away. Again I wrote to the club and got the same reply, basically How dare you bother us reply.
We were not the only ones complaining everyone we spoke to made comment on the decline of the site. I won't mention the attitude of the warden, lets just say they could all perhaps go on a "How to smile" course.
Not sure if we will ever retuen which is a great shame.
