Just had our second car insurance through, it had gone up by almost £70. I input like for like details into their website and it came up almost £100 cheaper. On phoning them they straight away agreed to honour it and said they would have noticed their mistake
when we renewed . So if they had not been greedy, they could have held it at last years figure and we would have paid it, but now they are getting £30 less.

I have a multi car policy with Admiral and both this year and last they sent me an inflated renewal and both times i rang up and got it back to basically the original figure
Undecided.I suppose its a bit of a ritual really.I also suppose that for every one that questions it like myself another half dozen wont
    and just pay up.

I also wonder if it's an age thing, they obviously know our date of birth and not all folk of our generation are so internet savvy. So do they try it on more with senior citizens than the younger generation. They have certainly tried it with our sons, but
percentage wise I would have thought they would get more not bothering to challenge it, from those in their 60's or 70's.

i used Admiral, - for one year only!  Their renewal quote was just plain silly.   Changed to NFU about 4 years ago, got the same multi car type cover and personal attention from their local office!  You can talk to real live people and they are in this country!

When I rang Admiral to tell them what I thought of their quote and that i'd saved nearly £200 by going elsewhere they offered to reduce it.  Too bl***y late!

You & me both TF, any quotes from any insurance that jack up the price I move my custom elsewhere. I don't give them my custom because they lower the demand. Once they've tried to take advantage they're not worth my custom or trust. I accept they need to
make a profit & I will accept a small increase but I've been quoted 33% increase with some of them-totally not acceptableYell

Are these companies the replacements for Banks?

Those have been dealt with, by and large, so do we now need universal opprobrium to deal with Insurers or will Theresa become a saint and sort them for us?

Last year, multi car insurance for Jag and Kia was £320, not bad, renewal this year over £500. Five minutes on phone, same company now £330.

Just sold caravan, applied for refund, pro rata refund, minus £35 admin fee.

Changed my motorcycle in April, rang insurance with new details, £25 admin fee.

Two weeks ago sat in lounge, heard loud bang, inner window of double glazed unit in conservatory shattered into a million pieces, (quite common apparently) rang insurance company who provided 10 year warranty. "Don't cover that"

insurance companies train all their employees in the art of ducking and diving.

Its that time again. Just got the renewal from SAGA for my Suzuki. Their quote £294 ( last year £185). Nothing has changed. Got Direct Line on a like for like basis at £179-20 .Plenty of others in the same range. Spoke to Saga who reduced to £224 and when I said I was leaving went to £202. Not good customer loyalty !!. However she did say I was paying by D/Debit and the premium would be debited on due date if I did nothing. Cancelled D/D immediately. Moral -don't trust a renewal quote, don't expect loyalty  and make sure you cancel or don't  pay Insurance policies by D/debit.

Ive got the same problem this year!  I Insure with the I.A.M. last year the combined price for the two cars was in the high six hundreds. This year the same two cars is about £1,000  Yet no claims (ever) and no convictions (Ever).  They seem to think that at 73 I am now a greater risk!!

Will have to shop around I suppose, but suspect that I A M might be cheapest.  This year the NFU suggested over £1000 for my Merc let alone the little Jazz.

I switched to NFU a couple of years ago and this years's renewal was only slightly up on last year's. I pay just under £600 for two cars - 3 year old Touareg and a new Corsa, which I don't think is bad.  However, my main reason for switching to them is that, if I have a query, I can speak to a real person in our local office and I don't get the usual call-centre waffle.

I agree and was happy with them & would have preferred to stay with them, but a difference of several hundred pounds was just too much.

Now I have  a reverse problem!   I.A.M. renewal is £764.17, far too much IMHO. So have got a quote from Saga of about £390, which seems too cheap & have to check everything is OK. How can they be so much cheaper???

It's a merry go round, Last year SAGA was the cheapest by far for the same cover and this year it went up by £130.

Halifax came in cheaper than SAGA was last year so went with them, but I can see me moving on again next year. Why they do not want a loyal customer base I do not know, as they see quite happy to lose some and gain others undecided

I always shop around when insurance renewal time is approaching.  There are so many great first year deals to be had for those changing insurance companies.   There is never any discounts for loyal long time customers.

TW, I agree with all that you have said, re service etc. But in this case NFU are DOUBLE the saga premium for the two cars. I.E. £700 more!

£700 is a hell of a lot just for the accepted privilege of speaking to a real live person!

I ought to as well.  Trouble is, it's such a long time since I retired, when it comes to looking for insurance companies, I never give them a thought. My next door neighbour always uses PMAS and is really pleased with their service.

I insure the caravan with Saga - mainly because they are about half the price of the competition plus, by all accounts, they have a good reputation when it comes to claims handling. On the odd occasion I've rung them with a query, the phone is answered straightaway by a 'real' person - none of that hanging on for ages listening to inane so-called music.

PMAS came in with my my lowest Joint quote, very closely followed by Saga.  Only £2 in it.   But PMAS gets the business! IAM promised to match it, but my rule is, that I want your best bid first!  Double the price is just not good enough!

Don't know if Im allowed on here now. However an Insurance tale. Today decided to contact Direct Line to seek an increase in my annual milage allowance. They will increase by 2000 miles at no cost. Whilst telling the bloke the reason was that we had sold our motorhome and was a1 vehicle household he asked " Had you advised us of the change. " Answer No my M/h was insured by SAGA no connection to you. However it appears this is a material change to the policy and telling him cost me £7-82 in increased premium. You cant make it up. What else is lost in the small print to invalidate our policies?
