Somewhere off the M5

Last time we went down to Devon we spotted some caravans in the distance on what looked like a lovely place by a canal or river.  I'm sure it was somewhere in the Bristol to Taunton area and we looked off to the left as we were going south.  Its a vague
description but I wonder if anybody knows the place I mean?  I have looked on google earth all over but I cant find it! Thanks for your help.
