Tyre replacement

My 2007 Swift Charisma 555 needs new tyres, as I think it still has the originals on and whilst not worn, one has a puncture and the other looks like the sidewalls are cracking.

It has 175R14C 98/99R, which means it has light truck tyres on at the moment that will take a load on 750/775kg per tyre (98/99 rating bit). The local tyre place said it was fine to fit normal car tyres on. I am not sure about that as the tyre pressure is
62psi, and the van weight is 1500kg all in, and also it is not what is on there already. Is that correct advice they have given me?

I was thinking of getting two 185R14C 104/107R for a bit of leeway, or is that false economy?

Own experience, views and advice would be welcome!

(Not sure if this needed to be here or in the towing section.)
