Winterisation - cover or spray?

When I bought my caravan 2nd hand last winter I found in the gas locker a bottle of a Fenwick product to spray on the caravan to protect it over the winter. Can anybody tell me whether using this, buying a cover, or uisng both are better? Thanks.
