Caravan Dealers
Am I right or wrong in believing that a Branded Caravan dealer deals and handles issues with that Brand of caravan irrespective of chassis number, by that I mean ones he has supplied, and serviced or not as the case may be, as long as it was the same brand .
I have the situation of having my caravan that needs to be returned to the manufacturer for work to be completed. The company arranged for my local dealer to be the pick up point for collection back to the Factory. I was telephoned this week to be met with " hello is that Mrs H (me) this is the (local dealer) can you tell me the name of your mobile service engineer ?" It transpired she was trying to gain details of my name, address , caravan type etc and then told me I had no right to tell my mobile engineer to use their depot as a pick up point for collection of my van back to head office. As this had been arranged by Head office I referred her back to them. It appears they do not have room to store my van for a couple of hours while waiting for collection. As I purchased this van prior to my move to this area I had to use a local dealer for collection not my normal supplier some 50 miles away. She wanted this information despite phoning me, on my home number and using my name as she had been cc'd on the letter sent to me from the Company which contained all the details she needed.
Is this the norm or is this just the attitude from this dealer in Loughborough.? I have had an issue with this lot before as work that was authorised previously by the Manufacturer to be completed was refused and the salesman told me I did not know how to fit an awning despite having fitted one for over 25 years on 5 different caravans and 6 different makes of awning and that was the problem not the awning rail which in his view was perfectly fitted.. He told me I had to buy an Isabella awning and that would stop the problem..... Great customer service I think ........
It appears they only deal with vans they have supplied...... Sailorgirl
