Just a little advice to travellers hoping to travel easily to Cornwall along the A30. THE ROAD IS CLOSED AT NIGHT FROM LAUNCESTON AND THE  DIVERSION ROUTE IS HORRENDOUS.

I came up from Mevagissey last night leaving at 9:15 pm. The A30 was listed as closed on Sat Nav but the route tom A30 from St Austell had no warning. At  Bodmin we were diverted to follow the black diamond. route through  Wadebridge, Camelford and towards
Launceston to pick up the A 30 again. The route was extremely busy with Southbound traffic bumper to bumper for at least 20 miles. The roads were narrow for A roads and with heavy lorries made the journey  nervewracking. There was a roundabout inSt Treath we
were advised to take the  right turn and immediately a left turn. The angle was so acute you could not line up car and caravn before you had to take anothe acute angled turn at the  almost adjoining roundabout. The caravan in front of me  nearly managed to
jacknife against his own car.We managed that only to find in Camelford  in the main street there was a one way priority traffic section. With the heavy volume  no gaps , so no one was giving way. The caravan ahead of me started to go through only to be met
by a Range Rover towing a very wide boat.Having both mounting the footpath the caravan and boat rubbed sides all the way through. I waited and a twelve wheeled lorry flashed me through, the tailback was miles..

I suggest those going South use the A38 via Plymouth and  down through Liskeard, to avoid the hassle.I understand that the route is open during the day which it was  when we made the journey some weeks before. Please be aware it took us  1hr and 3/4 to do
a 15 mile  section through the night and early hours. Safe journey everyone.........
