Aerial positions

Hi, I am currently at Blackmore site Malvern and am fascinated by the position of other caravans  tv aerial positions. 75% all have their TV aerials in a perpendicualr position pointing in the same direction.We have ours just as we travelled not raised,
or the angle changed  and we have a perfect picture.Is this just a case of "follow my leader" Can anyone offer an answer.  Thanks
