Motorhome v Caravan

I don't want to open a can of worms here, but we currently have a motorhome (for the last three years) and are thinking of swapping to a caravan, mainly because, for our 8 year old daughter, it is not about the journey, just about the holiday.  We therefore
don't really tour, maybe moving site once during a week.  So we think we are probably paying more upkeep, eg the engine service, habitation, tax, MOT,  and not really getting the benefits.  However it's always portrayed as motorhomes being quick and easy and
caravans being a bit of a palava.  Has anyone swapped in this way, or the other way and what do you think?

One other question, do caravanners wave to each other on the journey like motorhomers? Winking
