Motorhome Insurance

We insured our motorhome with the CC and had it stolen from the driveway on 1 July.  The claim is not yet settled and we have had very slow service with a variety of excuses regarding delay .... awaiting police reports, typing pool backlog, missing emails,
etc.

All this has surprised me as I changed to CC insurance as I heard loads of good things about it.  However, I have just read through some other posts on the forum and it appears (which I didn't realise until now) that caravans are insured with the club, but
motorhomes can be insured with a variety of insurers.  Our actual insurer is ERS, but I didn't realise this until we made a claim and I also didn't realise that this was quite different from being insured with the Club.

If you are looking for motorhome insurance, I would advise a little more care regarding just going with all the good reviews for CC insurance, as they will mostly be for caravans I imagine.

Sorry to hear about your motorhome. My motorhome is insured via the Caravan Club and the company the insurance is actually with is clearly marked on the insurance certificate, is that not the case with yours?

The motorhome insurance is a broker service and they put the policy with the insurance company they think most appropriate for your needs. If you feel the service is not up to9 standard and your theft claim should have been settled long ago provided there
are no problems not of the motor unsurers making then complain. You should write an official complaint to the company indicating the delays and why you feel these are unsatisfactory and asking them to deal with this through their complaints procedure. If you
are not satisfied with the reply you can escalate it to the Ombudsman whose details you should get with the reply.

I would also write to the club or copy them into the complaint. From their point of view they do not want their reputation hurt by a bad service from the insurer and if they are aware of problems might need to change the company used.

Let us know how you get on.
