Wind Power to supply 12v / 240v

Has anbody fitted / ground mounted a wind turbine that will supply 12v to charge battery and/also supply 240v for the caravan. If you have and whilst supplying 240v what happens when the wind drops ? I know......no 240v BUT does the electrical system within
the van then switch over to 12v supply. This is a bit technical I think but I can not get my head around it.
