Microwave ovens installed in cabinets
Hi all,
This is my first post, I just went back to a caravan after a year with a motorhome. I took delivery of a new (2015) Coachman Vision 560/4 last week and so we thought we would take a trial run. Great until we tried to use the microwave oven, my wife is usually
pretty good with such things but not this time, I opened the operating manual to find out how to use it and the first thing I saw was a warning that it must always be used on an open worktop, not in a built in cabinet, even if you leave the door open.
Our microwave is built in and can't easily be removed, my supplier told me not to worry since there had been no reported incidents!!!
I have since made a number of calls and have been told more than once that there are hundreds out there just like this so just use it.
The customer service of the oven concerned has confirmed to me that I should not use it in a cabinet, as to do so would run the risk of fire to say nothing about causing dampness in the area.
It seems that I will not be the only one with a built in microwave without proper ventilation and would urge readers to check their product handbooks or manuals.
