What current to use when charging the battery?
I've just bought a replacement battery charger, the old one having died after 30 years of service. The new charger, (Halfords own brand SmartCharge 100) was chosen to look after the batteries in the cars as well as the leisure battery in the 'van.
The charger look suspiciously as though it is the Ring SmartCharge+8, in a different coloured case, and with Halfords branding. Indeed, there is an addendum sheet included which is headed as "Ring"!!
The new charger allows me to choose an amp setting for, I guess, the charging current. Options are 2A, 4A, 6A or 8A.
Can anyone explain what is the ideal setting for charging a leisure battery (110Ah), and in what circumstances I should be using a different current setting? Or point me to a url that can give this information?
Many thanks, in advance!
