@DavidKlyne I haven't read any of his but did listen to a podcast of the first one in the series, and thoroughly enjoyed it. OH watched the version of it on the TV, and although she did enjoy it and said that it was not as good as it had been made out to be in all the ads for it.

At the moment I am reading the second of Aline Templeton's DI Kelso Strang series, and I have 3 more to go at!!

@nelliethehooker I think there has been a lot of hype about the film version although on here a few have seen it and enjoyed it. I am really only an occassional reader so don't get into serious reading. I just find the Thursday Murder Club books easy reading which perhaps might not appeal to those that get into more serious crime stories. Might be worth getting hold of one of the earlier books just so you get familiar with the set of characters that appear in all the books. I think that is the problem when Margaret reads the odd one in the series is that she has to relearn the charactures which are an important element in liking the various stories. I have not seen the film but have expressed the view that the cast of famous actors didn't quite match what my minds eye had envisaged.

@DavidKlyne I think that it is perhaps better if one see a film, or series, of a book(s) before reading them, as one will then put actors' faces and traits into the characters in the books rather than trying to match what you envisage the characters look like against their appearances in the production.

@nelliethehooker Thats what I had an issue with. Having read all the books I didn't think some members of the cast were right. In fairness I am saying this without seeing the film but I have read all the books. I could see Celia Imrie as Joyce but struggled with the idea of Pierce Brosnan as Ron? Perhaps I need to see the film before casting judgement?

I enjoy the LJ Ross books. Bought the first at The Sill, last time we were up in Northumberland. We have visited most of the title locations, but not Heavenfield Church. Will put that right hopefully shortly.
