Bought the above van last August as liked the layout and 962kgs unladen weight. Thing is, it feels a bit jittery when towing, even when unloaded after collection. I checked the tyres, nose weight and all fine. Having a bit thought about it, all heavy items
are on the offside of the van, battery, heater, fridge, cooker, microave etc, so I wondered what the weight distribution was to the wheels when it left the factory. I emailed Venus & Lunar, eventually got a reply to the effect, it was not supplied as not mandatory
by the NCC. So I write to one of the directors, Mr Mellor, still no reply. The van is nice, but does not instill confidence when being towed. My cars weight is 1440 kgs so heavy enough to keep it in check, but it must be the worst van I've towed over 20 yrs.

    Empty caravans can be jittery. Try it loaded and then it should be better. Once loaded the extra weight should improve things but also check the nose weight and try to get it to at least 75 kg if it is less but do not exceed the cars maximum.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

    We have been away a few tmes with, including the battery motormover,cloths etc 100kgs on board. I have the nose weight at 70, the cars max and its still jittery  If I knew the weight per wheel I could load the van better, so to speak, but for some reason
    they don't get back to me.

    Have a look at the thread that's underway in "Caravan" about weight distribution. Might help you. Sorry can't answer your query beyond what Wildwood has told you.

    Venus caravans are very light but I have not heard of the problem with them. Basically the more weight in them the less they bounce but with the weight you quote should be enough. Not sure how the wheel loading will help but it will vary according to how
    you load the caravan.

    I have had a 450/4 and now have a 550/4. I have fitted shock absorbers to both and find the towing very good. Fitting shockers will not effect your warranty, though contact Lunar to get them to confirm this in writing.
