Camper vans position, white peg ! No car !

Hi after spending a week on a very nice site in Wales I noticed several camper vans with long tents linked to them, why cant a camper van park with the White peg on the other side of their van thus giving them more space to enjoy their pitch, rather than
butting up the car parked next to them. Most camper vans dont have cars so this space on the near side is wasted.
