LR Discovery fuel cut out when towing

We were towing with our LR4 in France this year when the engine cut-out completely. Fuel gauge indicated 50 miles fuel remaining but French LR dealer said "out of fuel" and got it going again. 100 miles later big loss of power but engine still turning. Towed
off autoroute again and Red Pennant (great service alll through) arranged recovery to UK. Our local dealer said there is a seperate part of  the engine management system that measures fuel level to protect the engine. Loose connections can give a false reponse.
Remedy was to drop the fuel tank and re-make the connections.
