Approved Caravan Cleaners....is this a must????

Hello everyone, im just after a bit of advice. Im new to caravanning...well 1 year experience to be exact and during that time we have washed our van many times in autoglym shampoo.

However, after trawling the net ive noticed that Care-avan products are apparently the only 'approved' products on the market for Bailey caravans...is it really necessary to go to the expense of purchasing an approved cleaner when others seem to do a fantastic
job??

Also, can you advise if waxing over the decals is likely to cause problems? Its just ive seem other caravanners mention that they have had decal problems that needed resolving....
