Accident with tow car

Has anyone had the nightmare experience and was just about to go on holiday only to have an accident in the car you were going to tow your caravan with.I have that thought in mind and have tried looking at hire companies that hire viechles with tow bars
but it seems they are very few and far between .Do anyone know of companies that deal with these situations.
