Bentley Motorhomes -Shut Down
Some bad new for anyone who has a Bentley motorhome, This was in local paper today
Award-winning Mexborough business Bentley Motorhomes has ceased trading, with the loss of 26 jobs.
Andrew Cordon, from the Nottingham office of insolvency specialist Begbies Traynor, blamed a significant reduction in sales for the plight of the firm which had a turnover of £2.4 million last year and won both first and second place in two hotly contested categories at this year’s Caravan Club Awards.
Mr Cordon said “It is particularly disappointing to be called into such a well run company and one that has an excellent reputation for the quality of its products.
“The market in which the company trades is extremely competitive and the recent poor weather has done little for sales. We have received considerable interest in the business which at this early stage is encouraging.”
Mr Cordon said tentative discussions had taken place with a number of potential buyers and a creditors’ meeting will be held on Friday to appoint a liquidator.
The level of the Swinton Meadow Industrial Estate-based business’s debts has yet to be confirmed but it is thought that there is likely to be little money, if any, for unsecured creditors.
Bentley’s Cerise and Oulton models took first place in the Caravan Club’s competition for coach built motor homecosting £45,000-£55,000 and more than £55,000 earlier this year.
