Newbie needs insurance advice.

Hi there, I'm due to become the proud owner of a Daihatsu Hi-Jet JC Leisure Conversion camper (thanks to my very generous in-laws who have donated it to my wife & I) & am wondering what to do about the insurance. My father-in-law says I should get my insurance
from a Caravan Club recomended one but this will cost over double the cheapest campervan cover I have found elsewhere. As times are hard does it really make that much difference where I get my cover? We will only be using it for fairly local weekend aways
in the SW (we're in Bizzle) & maybe a trip to Northumberland towards the end of the year. Certainly no trip to the continent.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
