here is a final update from me and my police pals at towcester.

Hello Paul.

There are no specific offences regarding the positioning of a sat nav or any other windsreen or dashboard mounted device. The law does state that windscreens and windows must be kept clear of obstructions
to vision although this is primarily intended to prevent drivers using vehicles on the road with obscured, excessively dirty or frosted over windows.

Common sense would normally be applied by any police officer dealing with an incident of this type. Providing the positioning
of the sat nav allows a reasonable and safe view of the road ahead that would be fine.

I hope this answers your question.

Kind Regards
