Outfit length

I've noted the term "max outfit length" in the Club handbook descriptions of some Club sites and some CL's.  I'm puzzled - easily done!  What is an outfit?  Does it relate to the size of caravan / motor caravan?  Does it relate to the length of the tow car
and caravan when hitched?  Does it mean that's the maximum size of outfit [define an outfit] a site can take?  Or does it relate to the size of an outfit the approach roads can take?  My tug and caravan when hitched are 15.46m / 39' 9" long.  Anyone help,
I've had a quick look through the Club handbook and can't find anything.  I'm just a little concerned that I could end up on a site with a max outfit length of 8m when my outfit [car & 'van] is nearly twice that.......

TIA

Peter

My understanding is that it is the total length of your caravan - so in your case 8m

Certainly that's what I always work on!

Time the club used the same language as the rest of the country.

To everyone but the club, "outfit length" would mean the overall length of the outfit (?) ie the overall length of the car and caravan.

The club means the caravan body length or Motorhome overall length Yell

In CC terms it means the length that will be on a pitch. They aren't interested in the tug you put on the front - it's all about pitching.

But unless you have a mover, the tug needs considering for when you're trying to reverse onto your pitch without using the pitch opposite

That's a whopper... now I'm intrigued as to what caravan and what you are towing with!! I thought our outfit was quite long at 12.5m

Your outfit may be 39'9"", but quite unlikely to be 15.46M (50ft).

That's my point. It means something else to the rest of the world.

I have to agree, the club are using poor terminology. When I first read "outfit length" I immediately ussumed the total length, not the caravan length.Probably someone trying to sound clever a few years ago.

Agree with the comments made re possible confusion. I 'know' that so far as CC are concerned they mean the total length, in my case a caravan, including the towbar-so from the hitch to the back of the van-but if I did not 'know' would assume it was car and
    caravan.

I have commonly used the term 'shipping length' but dont want to cause more confusion!

It is the shipping length of the caravan (not simply the body length.

I am wondering the same.  They coudl have a Hobby at 9m plus the vehicle at 5m or they could have a twin axle they are towing withe a Maybach limo.  LOL!

Our outfit is under 13m long as our twin axle caravan is 8.14m and the Jeep GC is 4.7m making the outfit 12.89m long in total.

I agree with ET it's the total length of the caravan from the front of the hitch to the back of the van. It used to be referred to as the shipping length, probably still is if you put it on a ferry.
