Last year I towed my caravan in France and I stuck with the lower speed limit on motorways as posted here :-

http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/overseas-holidays/advice-and-information/compulsory-requirements/speed-limits as I believed the GTW to be over 3500 KGs.

However, reading the results on TowCar info, their site states the GTW for my oufit is 2954 KGs. The way I read it is that I could be fined for speeding or maybe not. Ok, so here are the figures :-

The manufacturers stated kerbweight for my Passat is 1575 Kg (Public weighbridge says 1600 kg with 75% fuel load and my wife sitting in the car (she aint heavy), no luggage and no towbar fitted). The noseweight limit for the car is 90KGs and the maximum
towing weight is 1800 KGs.(both manufacturers figures)

The MRO of the caravan is 1100 KGs and the MTPLM is 1247 KGs. So  can some kind soul tell me what the the real GTW of the combination based on factual  and not on "I think" rules, as I have seen 2 different sets of figures so far and no doubt someone will
have come up with something different!! Undecided
