    Conversions are in my head. 50 KPH = 30 MPH 30 KPH = 20 MPH. 100 KPH = 60 MPH 130 KPH = 80 MPH.  Don't need any fancy gizmos for that.

has anyone tried to bring this problem to attention of peugeot/or fiat i have and apperently it meets  the technicians specs and is not a problem that they are prepared to do anything about so unless its escalated by motor organisations it aint going away.
Nice to spend thirty thousand pound on motor and cant read kph while driving in Europe and sitting there working out what speed you doing not my idea of fun

no consolation, but one could spend one hundred and thirty thousand on a motorhome and you still get the same dashboard.

AFAIK, there is an official fix from Fiat which is just leaving the illumination on all the time, even in daylight....

I agree in principle, but it's not hard to do as Mitsi suggests

...no doubt, your satnav (i guess you will be using one in Europe) will be set up for kph?

...likely to be more accurate, too.Happy

Fit a Head Up Display. I bought one that has built in gps for the last MH. Mounts on the dash and displays MPH or KPH on your windscreen. New MH Fiat based has had the dash modificationin the software so the lights are on behind the dash all the while. Made it a bit easier to read. I also have an IGO Sat Nav and it displays the speed etc in MPH and KPH. I have the sat nav linked to the rear view display on the right of the dash so it's nice and easy to see.

How do you get on with the head-up display? When I was looking for a new car, the dealer loaned me a demonstrator with such a 'feature', but I found it most distracting and placed a book over the projector because for the short time I had the car I couldn't
figure out how to switch it off.

In France I opt for memorising the conversion as the kph figures are not that clear on the car. I do think that it is a common fault on various makes.

As a retired highway engineer the appropriate conversions are second nature to me but I would set satnav to KPH anyway

It worked really well. It lived down at the front near the screen. Projected the speed onto a smoked colour transparant square of plastic which was stuck to the screen. Down at the bottom I did not find it distracting and at night it dimmed itself. Cost about £50 from Amazon. Also had KPH which was very useful in France. I had a Toyota Prius and that had the feature.

The speedo in my Citroen Relay overreads by anything up to 8% which is perfectly legal and some might say conducive to roadsafety. I generally use the speed display on my sav-nav as an alternative. Easier to see, in my line of vision and switchable to KPH. It is also much more accurate (although exactly how accurate is a subject for debate).
