Torque Wrench for Car and Caravan Wheel Bolts.
I've been reading a lot of articles , and members letters in the Caravan Club Magazine about the pro's & con's of using a Torque Wrench prior to travelling to a Caravan Site.
I must confess that before setting off, one of the jobs is to inflate the tyres on both the Car & Caravan to the correct pressure, and at the same time I normally check the wheel bolts with the wheel bolt wrench, but only to make sure that they are tight.
Is it good practice to undo the wheel bolts, and then tighten them to the correct torque settings, every time we go away with the Caravan. Is it not a better way just to check that the bolts are tight. Surely the constant slackening and tightening can't
do the threads much good.
We try to go away at least once per month for about 7 to 10 days. Do we need to 'Torque' the wheel bolts to this degree. I'm a little confused, can anyone shed a light on this topic,
