If the front is fibreglass, there is a product I have used called Sika Supercut which is used for boats, and available from boating outlets. It is a polishing paste, a bit stronger than normal car products, so after using finish with a car polish to bring the shine up. This stuff is also great for getting rid of the yellowing that can occur on the plastic headlights of old cars.

If front is ABS, not sure what you should use on that, though I think it holds it's shine better anyway.

I do wonder if it is the polishing has been overdone. Ours gets washed after each trip with car shampoo and I have never had any problem.

Our first van went as you describe Fireman. Polishing didn't help in our case. It does take hammering over all of those towed miles.

We decided to invest in a towing cover for our new van to see if it slowed the dulling process. So far so good.
