Bold pigeons

Has anyone else noticed some daring behaviour by pigeons this summer? We have had them dancing on top of our caravan and waking us up early doors. But driving back from the East Coast two flew out of hedgerows at great speed and hit our car. One of them
actually knocked off our (well-secured) towing mirror, we never saw it again.
