Centres organise weekend "rallies" and many are now organising "events". Both rallies and events are open to all Club membere regardless of whether or not the member belongs to a Centre.

The basic difference is that a rally can be almost anyywhere, often in a field and members are expected to use the facility of their caravan or motorhom. Rallies often have some organised entertainment  but that said, participation is optional. Rallies end
with a "flagpole" which is an oportunity th thank the orginisers and there helpers.

An event wil at first sight seem to be the same as a rally. An event will be a temporary site (as with a rally) but will always be close to a National feature such as a Proms concert, or a National treasure.

In an event, the members activities are not organised and the member is free to book the attraction or otherwise. There is no formality (e.g. flagpole) at an event.

I have been involved in the event at Windsor that has coincided with the Royal Tattoo and Hors show at thwe castle. The temporary site was at The Windsor Racecourse (1 mile fromthe castle) and some pitches had the option of a 6 amp electricity supply for
a generator but this was a relatively expensive option. Windsor was a sucess because it attracted about 60% non-ralliers.

All events ar listed inthe Magazine but the best option is on line as some sucha s the Glen Miller Concert fill up early.

Although I am an avid caravanner, later this year I am going to the National Motorhome Show at Peterborough. I am doing this because motorhomes are gaining in poularity and this is an area that I know ver little about.
