Caravan route

Hi

We are going to Rosedale Abbey CC soon. Our route is straightforwad - A1/A1(M), York Ring Road and A169 to Pickering and then follow the site directions.

After thi swe are stopping off at Hargill House CC site which is near Scotsch Corner. My problem is that caravans are prohibited on the A170 shortly after Helmsley. so the logical route is no go.

I seem to have three options:-

1. Go north from Rosedale on very minor roads and pick up the A171.

2. Go back to Pickering and take the A169 north to meet the A171

3. From Pickering, take the A170 (towards Thirsk) and then the B1257 north towards Middlesborough.

Can anyone help with the safest route please?
