Price of fuel!

Been travelling  some 150 miles today calling at a well known supermarket petrol station at the start and finish of our journey [same company] only to find 4p difference per litre between them . Asked the attendant if the price had gone up during the day.
He said it had not so I asked why the diffence, he had no idea, does anyone else?
