Towing with a hybid or Range Extender?

This is more of a general interest query however is anyone towing with a hybrid (Prius style tech) or Range Extender (Ampera style tech)? I love diesels but recognise the politicians don't and seem determined to legislate them out of existance in time. I
personally doubt that petrol in any guise can match diesel in the real world in respect of torque, economy, longevity/reliability however I do also like the idea of elctric or electrically assisted propulsion. Any feedback from hybrid users/tests?
