Hi all,

Me and my dad will be wanting to tow a caravan. His is a zafira 1.9CDTi (150) but the car I need advice on is my dodge caliber SXT CRD Sport 2.0

According to parkers.co.uk my car weights 1560KG and has a maximum braked towing limit of 1200KG

BUT

This engine also features in the VW Golf (as its their PD TDi engine) which in comparison to age/engine. The golf weights 1451KG but has a towing capacity of 1400KG

So the golf can tow 200KG more when it weights less than my caliber with the same engine!?

But If I apply the 85% rule to my car: 1560KG divide .85 = 1326KG

Is there something I'm not looking at appropriatly here or am I over thinking things!?
