Nobivac L4
Vets are changing to Nobivac L4 vaccine for protection against leptospirosis. It replaces the earlier Nobivac vaccine and, because it's new, has to be given in two jabs at four week intervals for the initial treatment. Known reactions are -
"A mild and transient increase in body temperature (= 1°C) may occur for a few days after vaccination, with some pups showing less activity and/or a reduced appetite. A small transient swelling (= 4 cm), which can occasionally be firm and painful
on palpation, may be observed at the site of injection. Any such swelling will either have disappeared or be clearly diminished by 14 days post-vaccination. An occasional transient acute hypersensitivity (anaphylaxis) reaction may occur."
I'm picking up reports on the Internet of swellings far worse than described and several cases of anaphylactic reaction. It seems any problems are most likely to occur after the second jab. I've even read of cases where the manufacturers of the vaccine are
paying vet bills for treating the adverse reactions. Dogs, cats and horses have been cited as having problems. This is making me wary but I'm also aware that only the problems tend to get on the Internet whereas the trouble free situations never get aired.
Has anyone any experience of Nobivac L4, please?
