Reversing courses or not?

Having witnessed, a few days ago, a vanner encountering a bus coming from the opposite direction on a narrow road, who struggled to reverse into an available space. We then followed them to a site, he unhitched his van on the site road and he used the motormover
to his pitch. Is the motor mover becoming a liability and have drivers not got reversing skills required?
